Community Care Ministry

Salvation Army officers, staff and volunteers make regular and frequent visits to nursing homes and hospitals, to individual shut-ins. Often, these visits are the only contact the patients have with the world outside. The precious gift of spending time is most appreciated by those who are lonely.

Volunteers talk, laugh, sing songs, pray with and just listen to those who are hungry for love and friendship. The Salvation Army's Community Care Ministry has often been referred to as "Compassion in Action," bringing fellowship and comfort in this important part of the Army's ministry.

During Christmas and Easter, special visits are made to shut-ins, with programs provided and gifts distributed by staff and volunteers. The Salvation Army wants the lonely and forgotten to know that they are important.

The Fort Collins Corps' Community Care Ministry is under the leadership of Barry & Kirindi Goldman. We are visiting five different nursing homes monthly.
